In our social life, animals play so many important roles in our lives. Some, like cows and sheep, provide us with food; pets are our friends; other animals work for us. Above all, any animals, big or small, can fill us with a feeling of the wonder of the natural world.
What is biodiversity (生物多样性)? You can think of it as a big family album (相册) that has photos of all the living things on the earth, from plants, animals to humans. So it is a web of life in which all kinds have their roles.
Unluckily, we don’t always value this. Many animals are in great danger because of our actions. So we have to do some things to help them.
Refuse to eat, wear or use anything that comes from wild animals. By doing these things, you can save the lives of more than 100 wild animals every day.
Don’t watch animal shows for fun. Lots of animals don’t live in their natural living places, because people catch them and let them give shows. To stop this, never watch an animal show. Help them at the local animal reserve (保护区). The animal reserve is always a great help to animals.
Also, the government in each country has done many things to protect animals. For example, in China, pandas were endangered animals. To save them, the government built many reserves for them. Scientists did research to better understand the living habits of pandas. Our hard work finally paid off. In 2016, pandas became no longer endangered. At the end of 2020, there were more than 1,800 pandas living in the wild.
Anyway, there are many things we can do to save animals. And the more we do, the better animals can live.
