Ⅲ. 阅读表达【主题:人与社会 震后救援】
Life is full of the unexpected. No one knows what will happen tomorrow. A very strong earthquake, with a magnitude (震级) of 6.8, hit Morocco on the night of Sept. 8, 2023. At that time, Sam was away from his family home in the small town of Tamaloukte, near the epicenter (震中) of the earthquake. He hurried back home through the broken buildings that covered the roads.
When he arrived, he found that his house was completely broken apart. Sam's father, Mohamed, was trying very hard to save his three grandchildren who were still inside. Sadly, two of Sam's three children—his 11-year-old daughter, Asma, and 5-year-old son, Ibrahim died.
“I was sleeping at home when the earthquake hit. Later a neighbour told me that my second house where the grandchildren lived had fallen down, so I hurried to save them but found them under the fallen building. The roof came down while they were inside,” Mohamed explained.
Asma and Ibrahim are among the 47 people who lost their lives in the earthquake in Tamaloukte.
Volunteers provided Sam's family with a tent, warm clothes, and food to help them live through the first part of the disaster (灾难). The people from the Moroccan Red Crescent also helped Sam's family as they dealt with their huge loss.
In the face of disasters, it's impossible to bring back what people have lost, but offering a hand in time will help the families rebuild their lives. The help is just the first step for a family to get better after an earthquake.
1. When did the earthquake hit Morocco?
2. Where did the grandfather find the three children?
3. How many people died in the earthquake in Tamaloukte?
4. Who helped Sam's family?
5. What can we do to help the families that lost homes to rebuild their lives?
