This is a letter from Anthony Moretti，a professor at Robert Morris University. He shares his thoughts on the three taikonauts of the Shenzhou - 13 spaceship who completed their space travel.
It was Friday in my country. I watched the red - and - white balloon slowly return to Earth from half a world away. It was a beautiful Saturday morning in Asia，and the perfect weather allowed the world to enjoy what was happening. The balloon was carrying three taikonauts home after their successful six - month stay in space.
As Zhai Zhigang，Ye Guangfu and Wang Yaping safely landed in China's Inner Mongolia on April 16，2022，I had a sense of what we Americans must have felt on July 21，1969 when Neil Armstrong and his coworkers touched down on Moon.
Now，the taikonauts will be written about often and excitedly in the future. The US and Russia have played guiding roles in space discovery for years，and now China has become an important player and made ongoing efforts.
Perhaps the most meaningful mission(任务)took place on November 7，2021. Wang Yaping became the first female taikonaut to take a spacewalk，which lasted over six hours.
After successfully returning to China，Wang Yaping handed a star to her daughter as they hugged. It likely passes a message to Chinese boys and girls：You too，can reach for the stars，and it is possible you will reach them.
Yang Yuguang，vice president of the Space Transportation Committee of the International Astronautical Federation(国际宇航联合会空间运输委员会)，told the *Global Times* that “we are witnessing(见证)history”. Because of Wang Yaping's bravery，more female taikonauts would join the similar activities in the future.
Surely，Zhai Zhigang，Ye Guangfu and Wang Yaping are heroes，because they had spent the longest time in space. And there are more Chinese heroes still to come.
So，from half a world away，congratulations to Zhai Zhigang，Ye Guangfu and Wang Yaping. People all over the world will benefit from your wisdom，courage，curiosity and skills. In China，you are heroes. And for me，I also think of you as heroes.
