My Favourite Scientist
Yuan Longping is one of the greatest heroes in my heart. He is known as the “Father of Hybrid Rice”.
He was born in 1930 in Beijing. He began to study in Southwest Agricultural College in China in 1950. When he was 34 years old，he started a special study about rice. Ten years later，he developed a new kind of rice. To help more people，he travelled around the world and gave advice about growing rice in the 1980s. Yuan Longping won the World Food Prize for his work in 2004. On May 22，2021，he died at the age of 91 in Changsha.
In my opinion，he is a true hero. We are proud of him. What a great man he is!
