Many cities in Africa are poor. But Nairobi(内罗毕) could be an exception(例外). It's the capital(首都) of Kenya(肯尼亚). Let's pay a visit to it.
Nairobi is only 140 kilometres south of the equator(赤道). That is to say,it is closer to the sun than many other cities in the world. But in fact,it is not too hot. The average temperature(平均气温) is 17.7℃. When you walk around the city, you can see green trees, grass and colourful flowers.
Lake Naivasha(内瓦莎湖) is a freshwater(淡水) lake near Nairobi. It is home to many kinds of wildlife(野生动植物). It's wise to ride a boat on the lake. You will see birds flying in the air or swimming in the lake, such as flamingos(火烈鸟).
You would love to meet hippos(河马). Hippos like to spend most of the day in the water. They breathe air,but they can also walk underwater(在水下) for several minutes. They come out of the water at night. Then they eat grass, just like cows.
The Giraffe Center in Nairobi is an amazing place to visit. Everyone knows giraffes are very, very tall. But here, you can get up close with the giraffes. You can stand on a platform(站台) and look at them eye to eye. You can also feed them.
