Alfred Hitchcock was born in London in 1899 and studied at St. Peter's College. He first got in contact(接触) with film - making in 1919 when he was working for a studio as an illustrator(插图画家) of title cards for silent movies. Then, in the mid - 1920s, he worked his way up to director(导演).

Hitchcock was very famous in the 1950s and his movies were popular. At that time he was called “The Master of Suspense” by the media. His other famous works include Psycho(1960), The Birds(1962) and Frenzy(1972).
Hitchcock is one of the greatest directors in history. He was knighted(授予爵位) by Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ in 1980 after his death.
