Hello, I am Carla. I can still remember seeing the mysterious shadows (影子) when I was a little kid. They looked like large birds passing over my neighborhood! Sometimes we did see hawks (鹰) flying around where I lived. But their shadows were not so large as the mysterious ones. The mysterious shadows were always very dark, so what was creating them couldn’t fly too high. But I never saw them!
Once I was working in the yard when I saw a shadow coming down the street. But when I looked up, I only saw darkness for a second! If it was just a plane, why wasn’t there a loud noise? If it was a kite, who was flying it?
I asked my mother about the mystery. She told me she had also seen the shadows. And she guessed they were thunderbirds (雷鸟)! That’s because it’s said that this kind of bird is very large.
