As the winter travel season arrives, cities across China are ready to welcome visitors with open arms.
Their kindness and creativity can be seen in their attention to details (细节) and efforts. Whether it is providing heartwarming gestures like welcome signs at airports, improving roads and buildings to deal with bad weather or offering fun activities for visitors, cities are working hard to make winter trips special.
Upon landing at the airport in Harbin, a heartwarming sign greets passengers: "Welcome to Harbin, and thank you for your efforts to get here. " Known as the country's "crown jewel of ice and snow," the city's winter temperatures can drop to nearly —20℃. To save tourists from waiting in the cold, the airport has added electronic screens showing real-time updates (更新) about ride-hailing (网约车) services. These screens show car numbers along with wait times. What's more, to meet international tourists' needs better, main tourist areas in Harbin have put up English signs and set up guide services.
Other places in China, like Altay, are making similar efforts. Besides, Altay has developed new skiing activities such as ski jumping and heli-skiing. Some places that don't usually attract winter tourists, such as Dunhuang, are now trying to attract visitors by offering free or discounted tickets.
In recent years, cultural tourism in China has changed. It's no longer just about visiting famous places. Now, it focuses on giving visitors fun, creative experiences that show what makes each place special.
