16-year-old Pat Tulloch has a special hobby: she makes cheese on her family’s farm in Australia.
Pat’s journey began when she was young. She started by making yogurt with her mother, and later, she began watching her father’s workers make cheese. At the age of ten, Pat made her first batch of cheese on her own.
Pat always needs high-quality milk for her cheese, but she doesn’t need to buy it. Her parents have about 100 cows on their farm, so she can simply ask them whenever she needs more.
Pat has helped her family create many types of cheese. This year, one of these types won an award. “Last month, we started selling our cheese in New Zealand after people there read about our prize in a food magazine,” she says. “We’re also planning to run some advertisements (广告) soon.”
Pat’s next idea is to post some cheese recipes online, such as pairing cheese with eggs for breakfast. She also thinks people might enjoy eating cheese with spaghetti. “I hope a restaurant might buy some one day,” she says.
However, Pat is still focused on her study. “Making cheese is fun, and winning a prize for it is amazing, but doing well in my study is the most important thing for me right now.”
