The Mars rover (火星车) is a tool to explore the surface of Mars, one of the neighboring planets of Earth in space. It can help people collect information and find out whether there has ever been life on the red planet.

The rover is 1.85 meters high and weighs about 240 kilograms. It has six wheels and four solar panels (太阳能板), and can move 200 meters an hour on the surface of Mars. These include Dr. John Orr at Cambridge University. “We found that the plastic can replace(代替) 10% of the sand in concrete and it has the same strength(强度),” says Dr. John Orr. “That saves lots of sand and helps to cut down the plastic waste.” At the same time, other research is being done into using more objects to replace sand.
⑤To save the sand, everyone should play a part in cutting down the need for sand besides the researchers. Here is an example of the action everyone can take. A 10% drop in the number of cars on the road means 10% fewer houses with garages ( 车库 ) that need to be built. That is millions of tons of concrete every year.
