五、阅读理解
On 15 November last year, Abdusamat Keram, a young man from Xinjiang, finished a 280 - day hiking journey from Kashgar to Beijing. The journey is more than 5 000 kilometres long.
Abdusamat loved to explore(探险)as a kid, but he didn’t really have time for that. After finishing high school in 2021, he worked in a factory. Through TV and the Internet, he saw many hikers on the road. So he decided to go out and explore the outside world.
In April 2022, he left his job and started the Taklimakan Desert trip with his brother. The journey was hard and it took five months. During the trip, he learnt many life skills from his brother. Also, Abdusamat had a larger hiking plan: to walk from Kashgar to Beijing, alone.
Abdusamat said, “I shared the plan with my brother one night in the desert, and he said to me, ‘If you have an idea, just go for it.’”
On 7 February, 2023, Abdusamat started his journey with his dog Shunfeng. It made the long journey much easier and happier for him. However, both Abdusamat and his dog faced health problems during the trip. Fortunately, he met many kind people. Abdusamat planned to arrive in Beijing before 1 October, but he didn’t get to Beijing till 15 November.
The journey opens Abdusamat’s eyes and makes him see the beauty of China. It also changes him from a shy person to an outgoing person.
