I’m Kate. Lucy has been my friend since I could walk. Her house is just next to mine. Sometimes if I want to play with her, I will open the window and shout her name. Being the only child in her family, Lucy often feels bored in her own place. So she often visits my family. She is like a member of my family.
Lucy and I went to the same kindergarten, the same primary school and then we were in the same middle school. We were also both in the school’s Drama Club and we practised every Monday and Thursday. After practice, my parents or Lucy’s parents would drive us home.
Lucy and I had a great friendship before I became the leader of the club. I got quite excited when we were preparing for the end - of - year drama last year. The teacher gave us several dramas to choose from and I decided myself right away. Lucy was unhappy and refused to come to the rehearsal (排练). I didn’t realize what the problem was before I talked to the school counsellor (辅导顾问). The counsellor told me, “Kate, you should not decide yourself. A great leader should listen to the others’ ideas.”
This simple and short talk made me regret what I did and I said sorry to Lucy later. She came back, worked together with me and we created a wonderful drama. Through this experience, I also learnt knowing when to say sorry is also an important part of friendship.
