Tall and beautiful, Iris, a teacher, is standing in front of the students and ready to answer any question the students may ask. However, Iris is different from other school teachers. She is India's first AI (人工智能) teacher.
Iris can find out what each student is good at and in which ways they need help. She then creates different plans for different students to help them learn better. And learning with Iris is not boring at all! She uses cool things like pictures and games to make learning fun. This way, students become interested in subjects like science and technology. What's more, Iris allows students to ask questions and gives answers in time. She never gets tired of answering questions.
Although Iris can do many things, she's never going to take the place of teachers because she doesn't understand feelings or cannot care. She is a useful tool for teachers.
Shyam Babu with his team at Makerlabs Edutech created Iris. Shyam's interest in electronics (电子学) and his dream of creating a robot led him to study electronics engineering at university. As a student, he often felt upset when his teachers couldn't provide answers to his questions. This along with the fact that the textbooks were too old to follow the fast development of science and technology, made him believe the education system（体制）needed improvement.
After working as a teacher at a school, Shyam and three other teachers started the company Makerlabs Edutech. They planned to make a robot that is educative and interesting for students. However, that was not easy. Shyam once considered giving up, but with encouragement from his team, he worked day and night and finally brought Iris, the AI robot, to life.
Iris is a wonderful example of how technology can change education for the better.
