Ⅳ. 任务型阅读
We use digital devices all the time in our lives. For example, we use smartphones to wake us up in the morning. On our way to work, we listen to music, follow the news and find bus schedules(时间表)on them, too. We play games and talk with friends and family in our free time through different sizes of digital screens.
But this comes at a price. Studies have found that spending too much time using digital devices can make people sleep worse, have less social life, and be hard to focus(集中注意力). To help people take a rest from this always - on digital lifestyle, the US National Day of Unplugging(断电国家日)was started in 2010. It falls on the second Friday of March each year.
Many people find that the Unplugging Day seems longer than a usual day. “Without my smartphone, my breakfast was too short and I did not know what to do next,” one person on last year's Unplugging Day wrote. And he was unhappy that he couldn't look at his phone during bus or subway rides. But others see the activity as a way to feel what life was like before the smartphones got popular. “My friend and I had dinner in the evening, and we both talked about how much more real we felt and how relaxed we felt after we could really talk with friends face to face,” one person wrote.
Unplugging may be difficult, but it helps people slow down and keep healthy living habits.
