Two friends Jason and Harry lived happily on neighbouring farms. They worked together and helped each other for many years. But one day, the two friends had a big fight. Every time they met each other, they just walked away without any words.
One morning, there was a knock on Jason's door. When he opened the door, Jason saw an old carpenter(木匠). He asked Jason if there was anything in need of fixing on his farm. Jason thought for a few minutes and asked the carpenter to build a high fence around the farm. "I never want to see Harry's face again!" said Jason.
The old carpenter then learned what happened to the two friends. He thought quietly for a moment and said, "I see." Then Jason went to the city to buy things. When he came back in the evening, he was surprised. He didn't see any fences, but a bridge over the small river between his farm and Harry's!
Just then, Harry got out of his house and saw the bridge. He ran across the bridge and hugged(拥抱) Jason. They both said sorry to each other. The carpenter collected his tools and was ready to leave. "Please stay for a few more days. We have more things that need fixing," said the friends. "I'd love to, sirs," the carpenter smiled. "But I have many more bridges to build and things to fix in other places."
