1. What did Zhuge Liang use to make the arrows?
2. What was Zhou Yu's attitude(态度) towards Zhuge Liang before and after the plan?
Borrowing Arrows with Straw Boats$^{①}$
One day, Zhou Yu asked Zhuge Liang to talk about fighting Cao Cao's men on the water. Zhou Yu said, "We need 100,000 arrows. Can you make them in ten days?" Zhuge Liang thought ten days was too long and said, "I can do it in three days." Zhou Yu was doubtful but asked him to make a promise.

Zhuge Liang asked his friend Lu Su for help. He prepared 20 boats with 30 men on each. The boats were covered with$^{②}$ the cloth, and there were straw poles$^{③}$ on both sides. Lu didn't understand but did what Zhuge Liang said.

On the third morning, there was a lot of fog. Zhuge Liang and Lu Su got on the boat. When they were close to Cao Cao's men, Zhuge Liang told his men to play the drums and shout loudly. Lu Su was afraid, thinking they would be hurt$^{④}$. But Zhuge Liang said, "The fog is too heavy. Cao Cao's men won't come. They'll just shoot$^{⑤}$ arrows."
Cao Cao heard the noise but couldn't see clearly. He told his men to shoot arrows. The arrows flew like rain and fell onto the straw poles. After some time, one side of the straw poles was full, so Zhuge Liang told his men to turn the boats around.

When the fog cleared, there were over 100,000 arrows on the boats. Zhou Yu's men were very surprised when they came to get the arrows. Lu Su told Zhou Yu what happened, and Zhou Yu was surprised at Zhuge Liang's smart plan. Zhou Yu thought Zhuge Liang was very clever. After that, they worked together and won many fights.
