Chen Xin lived in Guangzhou. She dreamed of experiencing cold weather. So during her last winter holiday, she went on a special trip to a beautiful city in north China—Harbin.

Nature is full of magic. There is a special desert—Lencois Maranhenses. It's desert on one side and beach on the other.
Lencois Maranhenses lies in the state of Maranhao, Brazil. It covers an area of about 1,500 square kilometers. The desert there is not as dry as other deserts. There are also some animals. People can see fish in the water and birds in the sky. It's more like an oasis(绿洲).
What makes this desert so special? This is because of its location. It lies near the equator and there is a lot of rain. And the sand from the coast(海岸) is blown by trade winds. Thanks to the rivers such as the Rio Negro, animals are brought there during the rainy season.
Of course, when the dry season comes, the salt lake will become dry and small. At the same time, animals will hide and wait for the next rainy season.
