Ⅲ. 任务型阅读:阅读下面短文,根据短文内容,完成下列各题。
Dear Mum and Dad,
I know you are probably wondering why I wrote to you. The thing is, I’m not happy with some of our family rules. After all, I’m not a child anymore. I’m 14. I’m a teenager now. Anyway, I don’t know how else I can “talk to” you, so please “hear me out”.
First, can I spend more time with my friends on Saturday night? Every time we decide to watch a two-hour movie after six o’clock, I have to explain to them that I won’t get home at 7:30 p. m. if I join them. The last time that happened, they called me a “killjoy”, and I was so embarrassed (尴尬的). So, can I stay out until 10:00 p. m. on Saturdays?
Second, can I have more pocket money? I plan to take tennis lessons this summer, but all my money has gone to snacks, drinks, books, music, and video games. I think I’m ready to take on more housework around the house: I can cook, clean the house, and even look after my baby brother. If I’m allowed to have more pocket money, I promise not to spend any on sweets or expensive toys.
Last but not the least, could you please not use the word GROUND (罚不准出门) in front of my friends? I don’t mind being grounded for a week or a month, just no G-word when my friends are with us. It hurts my feeling.
Love,
Johnny
