In Morocco's desert, a rare heavy rain has brought lakes and ponds back to life. The locals and tourists praised $it$ as a gift from the sky.
In a town called Merzouga, which is far from the capital city, the dry desert around has lakes and ponds now. Local guides said the rain had attracted even more visitors to the tourist area to see the changes.
In fact, this area has suffered from water shortage for a long time. 2024 was the driest year in Morocco in 80 years, but in September, there was such a heavy rain that it even caused floods. This rain, which was caused by a change in weather patterns, filled some reservoirs and groundwater in the south of Morocco. But to see a big change in the water levels, the rain needs to keep falling for a longer time. However, the rest of the country is still facing a six - year drought (干旱). This drought brings great harm to farming, and farming offers one third of the total jobs in Morocco.
Jean Marc Berhocoirigoin, a 68 - year - old French tourist, was amazed to see Yasmina Lake full again. "I felt like a kid on Christmas morning," he said, not having seen such views in 15 years. Other desert areas, like Erg Znaigui, have also received water. However, scientists warn that one heavy rain won't create lasting change. Yet, Morocco's weather agency (气象局) suggests that such heavy rains might happen more often, caused partly by climate change.

答案:
1.A 由划线词所在句的前一句“In Morocco’s desert, a rare heavy rain has brought lakes and ponds back to life.”可知,一场罕见的大雨让摩洛哥的沙漠中的湖泊和池塘重新焕发生机,因此当地人和游客称赞它是天赐予的礼物。“it”指代前文提到的“罕见的大雨”。故选A。
2.C 由第二段中的“Local guides said the rain had attracted even more visitors to the tourist area to see the changes.”可知,暴雨吸引更多游客到梅尔祖卡镇。 故选C。
3.A 由第三段中的“farming offers one third of the total jobs in Morocco”可知,许多摩洛哥人从事农业工作。
故选A。
4.D 由最后一段中的“Yet, Morocco’s weather agency suggests that such heavy rains might happen more often, caused partly by climate change.”
