Once upon a time, there lived a farmer who had some land. His name was Tuan and he was a very kind person. Whenever someone fell ill or was in need, Tuan was always there to help. He appeared to be loved by all.
But there was one person who hated Tuan very much. He was Juan, a neighbour of Tuan. He sat around all day and hardly put much effort into his land. When the harvest season arrived every year, Juan found that he had very few crops to sell. But Tuan made more money by selling his crops. Juan was jealous of Tuan and he was very angry.
One year, just days before Tuan was to harvest his crops, Juan did something terrible. He secretly set fire to Tuan’s crops at night. Tuan was asleep at that time and didn’t know about the fire at all. Luckily, one of his neighbours discovered it and saved most of Tuan’s crops. Tuan was sad, but he managed to sell the rest of his crops at a good price.
A few days later, Tuan found that Juan’s son was ill. He was so badly ill that the village doctor was unable to treat his illness. Tuan rushed to the town that was ten miles away and brought back a more experienced doctor. This doctor was able to treat the disease and gave the boy some medicine. Hours later, the boy slept soundly and Tuan went with the doctor to take him back to the town.
The next day, Juan went to Tuan’s house. He told Tuan the truth and apologized to him. Hearing that, Tuan laughed. He had already known the truth before, but that didn’t stop him from helping the sick boy!

答案:
1.C 由第二段中的“He was Juan, a neighbour of Tuan. He sat around all day and hardly put much effort into his land.”可知,Juan 是一个懒惰的人。故选 C。 2.A 由第二段中的“... Juan found that he had very few crops to sell. But Tuan made more money by selling his crops. Juan was jealous of Tuan and he was very angry.”可知,Tuan 卖农作物赚的钱比 Juan 多,所以 Juan 很忌妒,他的忌妒导致他烧了 Tuan 的庄稼。故选 A。 3.D 由第三段中的“He secretly set fire to Tuan’s crops at night.”和“Tuan was sad, but he managed to sell the rest of his crops at a good price.”、第四段中的“A few days later, Tuan found that Juan’s son was ill.”以及最后一段中的“He told Tuan the truth and apologized to him.”可知,正确的顺序是 c-b-a-d。故选 D。 4.C 由最后一段中的“Hearing that, Tuan laughed. He had already known the truth before”可知,Tuan 在 Juan 说出火灾真相之前就已经知晓。
