五、(2024·河北辛集中学期中)阅读理解
My best friend is Lucy.
We met each other at a summer camp when we were 12 years old. At first, we didn't talk much. I was a bit shy, and she seemed very quiet. But one day, during an art activity, we found that we both loved drawing the same kind of pictures—beautiful natural scenes with mountains, rivers and forests. From then on, we became inseparable.
Lucy is not only talented in art but also in sports. She is a great swimmer. Once, we entered a swimming competition in our school. I was really nervous, but Lucy kept encouraging me. She said, “Don't be afraid. Just do your best, and I'll be right beside you.” With her support, I managed to finish the race. Although I didn't win a prize, it was a great experience for me.
Lucy is also very understanding. Last month, I had an argument with my parents. I was so sad and didn't know what to do. I called Lucy, and she listened to me patiently for hours. She gave me some good advice and helped me calm down. She made me realise that my parents loved me and that we just needed to talk things through.
I can't imagine my life without Lucy. Our friendship has seen us through happy times and difficult moments, and I believe it will last a lifetime.
