Ⅰ. Read the passages, choose the best answers and answer the question.
A
Hailey Dawson, an 8-year-old young girl, threw out the first pitch (投球) at Angels Stadium on 16th September, 2018. She finished her “Journey to 30”, and with that, she became the first person to throw out the first pitch at all 30 Major League ballparks (大联盟棒球场). Hailey did it with her robotic hand.
Hailey was born with Poland syndrome. It has caused her to have three missing or underdeveloped fingers on her right hand. When Hailey was 4, her mum, Yong Dawson found a plan online for a 3D-printed hand. The 3D-printed hand gives her the ability to hold and carry things, like throwing a baseball.
In 2015, Hailey was given the chance to try her 3D-printed hand at a Baltimore Orioles’ baseball game, where she gave the first pitch. “When she puts this robotic hand on, it changes her personality and confidence level, who was once shy,” Yong told CBS San Francisco.
Soon after her Nationals pitch in 2017, a video of Hailey telling her dream to pitch at all 30 Major League ballparks spread (传播) on the Internet. Her love of baseball caught the attention of the other Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. Then she was invited to throw the first pitch at games. The University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) made 30 special hands for Hailey’s ballpark visits, each with a team’s colours and logo.
Hailey says she felt “amazing” after completing her “Journey to 30”. She’s now raising money for UNLV to create and donate (捐赠) hands similar to hers. “I want people to know, if I can do it, you can do it,” Hailey said.
