◆ April Fool's Day
No one is sure how this day started but it has been around for at least 500 years. On this day, people play jokes on each other. Sometimes they are small jokes. Sometimes they are big tricks. Sometimes newspapers, TV stations or radio stations also play jokes. In some places, people have to play jokes before noon. If they do it after that, then they're the April Fool!
◆ Carnivals (狂欢节)
Carnival is a time to enjoy yourself, dress up in colourful costumes and celebrate. Most carnivals have dancing, singing and parades in the streets. They start in February and last for many days. Rio de Janeiro (里约热内卢) has one of the biggest and best carnivals in the world. It starts at midnight on a Friday and, some years, the party goes on for a month!
