After reading A Thousand - Year Appointment with Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, I felt like I had taken an exciting trip to Dunhuang. The writer’s words made everything so real that I started dreaming about visiting this amazing place myself.

I liked the part about the Mogao Grottoes the most. When the writer said the murals and sculptures (壁画和雕塑) were like “silent storytellers”, I could easily imagine them. The colourful paintings of gods and old time people seemed to talk to me from the past. I was really surprised by how skillful the ancient artists were. Their art has stayed beautiful for hundreds of years!
Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake (月牙泉) also seemed amazing. The writer said Crescent Lake was like “an emerald (绿宝石) in the desert” and that made me want to see it. I thought about standing on the top of the sand mountain, looking down at the clear, moon - shaped water. What a beautiful and peaceful sight it must be!
The Dunhuang Night Market seemed like a fun place. With its delicious food smells and interesting hand - made things, it felt like a mix of old and new. I could almost hear the happy voices of people and taste the local snacks just from reading!
Dunhuang, as a key place on the Silk Road, has seen so many different cultures meet and share ideas. This article taught me more than just about beautiful places. It showed me how important history and culture are. It made me understand that we should protect and learn from our past.
Now, I really hope to visit Dunhuang someday. I want to see these amazing sights with my own eyes and make my own memories in this special place.
