六、阅读理解。
Most designers follow a set of steps(步骤) to make their ideas happen. Step One is defining (明确) a problem or need.
Let’s see how you can be a designer. Pretend(假设) you have a new dog but don’t have a doghouse. For Step One, you define the problem or need. Your dog needs a doghouse. You might have a good idea for a birdhouse or fish tank, but that won’t fill this need. Your first step is knowing what problem to solve. The design must suit the need.
Step Two is defining a good outcome. The desired outcome(理想效果) is different for different kinds of designers.
A fashion designer designs clothing styles. But stores already have lots of clothes. Why do they want new styles? The reason is that stores need people to always come to buy. Fashion designers need to design clothes that people will buy. The clothes should be different from older clothes. Wearing them should make people feel good.
For Step Two, imagine your new doghouse. You could buy a doghouse at a pet store. Why do you need to design your own? How will yours be different? What will make your new doghouse a nice one?
Now the designer knows where the idea starts and where it is going. Step Three is to describe the situation(描述状况) as it is now. What resources(资源) are there? How can the designer use them?
For Step Three, think about your resources. Do you have a place for a doghouse? Is the land grassy or rocky? Think about the weather. Will your dog need shade from the sun?
Also, what will the house be made of? Do you have the materials? Do you have anyone to help you build it?
