Watching English films and television programmes is an excellent way to practise your listening skills and pick up new words. Here are some tips on it.
Focus on more recent movies. There are many old English films that are well worth watching. 1.
Watch them with subtitles(字幕)in the beginning. Watching films with the English subtitles can make you understand them much easier. Seeing the words appear on the screen means that you have two different ways to learn what you're listening to. 2.
Watch them without subtitles later. Real life doesn't come with subtitles, so to get really fluent(流利), you will finally need to be able to understand what is being said without help! 3.
Pick out new words. Unlike conversations in real life, the great thing about watching a film is that you can stop and replay anything you don't understand! 4.
