新课标 传统文化 For many Chinese people, the Lantern Festival marks the end of two-week Lunar New Year. For folk artist Wang De, it is also the busiest and best time to show his skill creating molten iron fireworks(打铁花).
Wang is a blacksmith(铁匠) of the 500-year-old art of dashuhua, which means “creating tree flowers”. He lives in Yuxian County in the city of Zhangjiakou, North China's Hebei Province.
Wang, 58, and his partners put on many dashuhua shows for local (当地的) people and tourists as a part of the Spring Festival activities each year. The folk artist hopes the tradition can bring more visitors to his hometown of Zhangjiakou.
Dashuhua is a traditional form (形式) of fireworks show that takes place during certain festivals. In ancient times, only rich people could see the show.
Because of the risk of the show, it's easy for dashuhua artists to get hurt when they are giving shows. And the high-risk tradition is still only kept for the brave. During a show a few years ago, Wang got hurt on his leg in an accident and it took two months to get better.
Both Wang's father and grandfather were blacksmiths. “I learned the skill from my father. When I was young, I thought it was exciting. But years later, I also felt it was my duty (责任) to pass it on to the next generation (代),” he said.
