九、阅读表达(共5小题,计5分)
阅读短文,从方框中选择合适的句子填入文中空白处。
Do you often compare yourself to other people? Perhaps your best friend received something you really wanted for birthday, or you're not allowed to go to a concert but your brother or sister is. Even though comparisons are normal and sometimes helpful, focusing on your own progress is important for your happiness, too.
Why is focusing on yourself important? "We prefer to compare ourselves to others who are doing better or not as well as ourselves," says psychologist (心理学家) Nicola Abbott. "But comparing yourself to your past self and your future self can be more positive. This can make you feel proud of your achievements, as well as excited about the future."
If you begin to feel quite low, Abbott suggests focusing on your own progress and what you are good at. You can ask yourself questions like " ▲ " — "What do I feel proud of and what improves?" These can help you to improve your self-esteem (自尊).
"Comparing with others is normal," says Antonious, a child psychologist, "but focusing on your own performance can help you feel successful, too. Besides, learning to celebrate your friend's achievements can help not only to improve your friend's feeling, but can also help you feel good. It will encourage you to get along well with each other."

解析:第二段中心理学家Nicola Abbott提到“But comparing yourself to your past self and your future self can be more positive. This can make you feel proud of your achievements, as well as excited about the future.”,可知与过去和未来的自己比较能让人感到自豪和兴奋。
3. What am I good at?
解析:根据“If you begin to feel quite low, Abbott suggests focusing on your own progress and what you' re good at.”可知答案。
4. Focusing on my own progress is more helpful. Because comparing with others may make me feel low, while focusing on my own progress can help me improve self-esteem and feel successful. (答案不唯一,合理即可)

Should Friends Be Different or the Same?
Last week, Yuying High School surveyed 500 students on whether friends should be different or the same. The results show that _
答案:The results show that 35% of the students thought friends should be the same, while 30% said friends should be different and the rest 35% didn't care if friends are the same or different. For me, I also don't mind the differences between friends. But I think that a true friend should reach for your hand and touch your heart.
My best friend Lily is as tall as I am, but I am heavier than her. We both like to talk to others, but Lily is more outgoing and friendly than me. We both like sports, but I only like watching games on TV. Lily plays sports every day. She also likes to eat healthy food, but I like eating junk food, so I think that Lily is much healthier than me. I should learn from her.
