Ⅱ. 阅读理解
[人与社会·意外发明]Life is always full of unexpected things. Tea is an unexpected invention. Many people believe that people began to drink tea about 5,000 years ago. It’s said that a Chinese ruler(统治者)called Shen Nong was the first to discover tea as a drink.
One day,Shen Nong was boiling(煮沸)drinking water over an open fire. Some leaves from a tea plant fell into the water and stayed there for some time. They produced a nice smell,so he tasted the brown water. It was quite delicious, and so one of the world’s favourite drinks was invented.
In the 8th century(世纪),Lu Yu’s *Cha Jing* came out. The book describes how people grew tea plants and used them to make tea. It also discusses where the finest tea leaves were produced and what kinds of water were used.
It’s believed that people brought tea to Korea and Japan during the 6th and 7th centuries. In England, tea didn’t appear until around 1660. Although many people now know about tea culture, the Chinese are without doubt the ones who best understand the nature of tea.
