For years, Mr Li worked as a postman in the mountain areas. He sends things on foot. Now, he is in his late 50s. He loves his job, but he has to stop for poor health. His son Xiaojie takes over his position.
It is a cold morning. Xiaojie is ready for his first trip as a postman. It's a long trip, over 30 kilometres. Mr Li decides to go with his son. This is his son's first trip and his last. They just walk silently along the way, without saying a word.
Finally, they get to a river. It is not deep, but quite wide. Xiaojie carries his father across the cold water. This brings back his happy memories with his father. His father was always absent from home when he was a child. But every time he came back, he would carry Xiaojie on his back. They didn't say much, but they loved each other.
Right at the moment, tears quietly run down Mr Li's face. He knows he's getting old. At the same time, he feels quite happy about his son's growth. But like any traditional Chinese father, he just hides his care in his heart.
