The Wind and the Sun
Max was a farmer. He lived in a house in the mountains. Every day he got up early. After breakfast, he took his goat to the top of the mountains for green grass.
It was an autumn day. The Sun and the Wind argued(争吵) about who was stronger. “I’m stronger than you,” said the Wind.
“Oh, really?” said the Sun.
“Yes. You can’t move anything. You’re not strong,” said the Wind.
“Let’s have a competition(比赛) to decide who is stronger,” said the Sun.
They saw Max walking on the way. The Wind had a good idea, “The one who can make Max take off his coat is stronger.” But the Sun didn’t like this competition. “Are you afraid of me?” said the Wind.
“No... But I like Max. I don’t want to be unkind to him.”
“Are you scared(害怕) you’ll lose?” asked the Wind.
“No,” said the Sun. “OK, let’s do it!”
The Wind blew, blew and blew... Max pulled his coat around him to keep warm. The Wind blew hard, but he could not get the coat off Max. He was angry.
The Sun shone on Max. Max felt warm and happy. He took off his coat. The Sun said to the Wind, “I’m gentle and kind. This is why I’m stronger than you.”
