Ⅳ. 阅读理解 (主题:人与社会·文化传承)
The Qiang flute (笛子) is a key musical instrument (乐器) of China's Qiang ethnic group (羌族). It is said that the first Qiang flute was made of the bone (骨头) of an eagle's wings. When some Qiang people moved from the grasslands of Northwest China to the areas along the Minjiang River, the flute evolved (逐渐演化). Qiang artisans (工匠) started making the instrument out of bamboo instead of bones, and they increased the number of holes from fewer to four or five.

Zhao Kun is an inheritor (继承人) of the Qiang flute performance and crafting (手工艺) traditions. He is one of the key artisans protecting and passing down this ancient instrument. Growing up listening to his elders play the Qiang flute in his family, Zhao Kun began to learn how to play and make the Qiang flute during middle school.
Zhao Kun has always crafted Qiang flutes with traditional materials and skills instead of cost - saving plastic. To make the instrument better, he went to learn Shuimoqi, a traditional lacquerware (漆器) craft of the Qiang ethnic group, from an intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) inheritor named Zhu Hongzhi.
Today, the Qiang flute is quite popular around the world. More and more people come to learn the Qiang flute crafting from Zhao Kun. Although the process of making Qiang flutes may be bad for artisans' hands, they cannot wear gloves. According to Zhao, they need to feel the materials with their hands to make sure the instruments they make are great.
“The 2,000 - year legacy cannot end with us. Only by carrying it forward can make the Qiang flute reach a bigger stage (舞台),” Zhao Kun noted.
