Ⅳ. 阅读理解(主题:人与自然·自然景观)
There is a road named Passage du Gois in France. It's in the Bourgneuf Bay on the Atlantic coast. It's about 2.6 miles long, connecting the town of Beauvoir - sur - Mer on the mainland(大陆) and the island of Noirmoutier. For two short windows of time each day, the road is drivable for one and a half hours before and after low tide(潮汐).

Drivers need to plan first. The Noirmoutier tourist office tells drivers whether it's safe to cross to the other side. If travelers drive during low tide, they shave 20 minutes off the time it would take them to cross using the next closest crossing point—the Noirmoutier Bridge.
It's not surprising that the disappearing and reappearing road is loved by travelers. According to a 2021 Noirmoutier Island report, thousands of crossings were made that year and the Passage du Gois continued to be a place travelers want to visit very much.
The excitement of crossing makes it a great location for many special events. It once held the famous Tour de France bike race twice. The road was also one of the locations for the 2024 Paris Olympic torch(火炬) tour of France. And a luxury(豪华) car brand famously chose the road to test out its new cars.
Because of the risk of getting caught in the tides, the Passage du Gois is often considered one of the world's most dangerous roads, but there is a fail - safe system for that. Along the road there are rescue(救援) towers for anyone unlucky enough to find themselves trapped as water rises, providing them with a safe place to wait until rescue teams arrive or the tide goes out.
