D 阅读理解
A satellite(卫星) made of wood was sent into space. It was the first time a wooden satellite had ever gone into space.

This small satellite, named LignoSat, was sent to the International Space Station(ISS). Later, it entered an orbit(轨道) about 400 kilometers above the Earth. LignoSat looks like a small box. Each side of it is about 10 cm long. Although LignoSat is mostly made of wood, it has some electronic(电子的) parts. These parts can collect information about its operation(运行) and send it back to the Earth. The satellite was expected to stay in orbit for about six months.
▲ The main reason was to see whether wood could be used to build more satellites or other space objects. Space junk is a growing problem. Satellites made of metal(金属) can cause much pollution when they come back into the Earth’s atmosphere(大气层). Wooden satellites are different as wood is more environmentally friendly. When a wooden satellite comes back, it would just burn up with less pollution.
Takao Doi, an astronaut, had been to space and now studies human space activities. In his opinion, wood can greatly improve future stays for space travelers. “With wood, we will be able to build houses, live and work in space forever,” says Doi.
1 What’s special about LignoSat?
A. It’s named after an astronaut.
B. It’s been in space for many years.
C. It’s the first wooden satellite in space.
D. It’s the smallest satellite to orbit above the Earth.
2 What can the electronic parts do?
A. Send the satellite into the orbit.
B. Get the satellite into space faster.
C. Protect the satellite from space rocks.
D. Collect and send information about the satellite.
3 Which of the following can be put in the “▲”?
A. Why was the satellite made?
B. What task did the satellite carry out?
C. How long did it take to make the satellite?
D. When did the satellite come back to the Earth?
4 How is a wooden satellite different from a metal satellite?
A. It could stay longer in space.
B. It could be cheaper to build.
C. It could cause less pollution.
D. It could travel higher above the Earth.
5 What could be the best title for the passage?
A. ISS welcomes its new “customer”
B. Wood can be used to build satellites
C. A box-shaped satellite is successfully made
D. The world’s first wooden satellite heads to space
