Jenny is an old lady. Her friend Bob has a pet store. So Jenny buys a parrot from Bob's shop. However, the old lady gave the parrot back to the shop the next day.
“This bird can't talk,” Jenny tells her friend.
“Does it have a mirror in his cage?” Bob asks. “Parrots love mirrors.” The old woman then buys a mirror and then leaves the shop. The next day she comes back again. She is a little angry with Bob and says that the bird still doesn't talk.
“How about a ladder(梯子)? Parrots love ladders,” Bob says.
So the old woman buys a ladder for the parrot. But the next day, she is back. “Does your parrot have a swing(秋千)? No? Well, when he starts swinging, he'll talk a lot,” Bob says. The woman then buys a swing.
When she walks into the store the next day, Jenny begins to cry. “The parrot died,” she says.
Bob is shocked, “How come? Did it ever say anything?” he asks.
“Only a question, right before it died,” Jenny answers. “In a low voice, it asks me, ‘Don't they sell any food at that pet store?’”
Sometimes we forget what we really need in life. We sometimes have lots of things to do, but we forget to do the most important thing.
