The mouse and the lion
(2024 江苏徐州)
A mouse ran over a sleeping lion. The lion woke up and got very angry. He caught the mouse and was about to kill him. The mouse asked the lion to forgive him. He said, “If you let me go, I will be sure to repay your kindness.” The lion laughed and let him go. Soon the lion was caught by some hunters. They bound him to the ground with strong ropes. The mouse heard his roar and came up. He wasted no time to cut off the ropes with his teeth and set the lion free. Before he left, he said, “You laughed at me when I said I could repay your favour. But now you know, given the chance, even a mouse can help the strong lion.”
