四、阅读表达
In China,it is well known that sewing is regarded as an essential(极其重要的)skill for women in traditional society. They sewed for their parents, husbands and children. I have always thought that sewing was particularly moving.
My grandma is a gentle old lady. Like many women of her time, she has a talent for sewing. She made all my childhood clothes with her deft(灵巧的)hands.
As a baby girl, rather than playing outside with my contemporaries(同龄人),I preferred to stay with my grandma to help her sew. It is just that I was so crazy about getting the thread through the eye of a needle.
Later, instead of making clothes,my grandmother would sew gloves or insoles(鞋垫)for me. She cannot accompany me all the time, but the strong love delivered by her needle and thread warms me.
It was Grandma who stimulated(激发)my enthusiasm for sewing and taught me how to express love and care. Almost a year ago,I was struggling to find a birthday present for my friend, then I thought why don’t I sew her a gift?
I decided to make her a pencil case. I cut out the pattern from my old denim(牛仔布)skirt, drew a design and started sewing. It took me about two hours to finish it. The final result wasn’t as pretty as I imagined, but it was the most durable(耐用的)and loving pencil case I could make. I sent it to my friend and wished her a happy birthday.
Just yesterday, she called me and said that every time she sees the pencil case, she thinks of me and gets a warm feeling. Sewing is a fantastic art form, which can also convey our love and care.
1. What is the writer’s grandma good at?
2. What do Chinese people think of the skill of sewing?
3. What was the writer crazy about at a very young age?
4. What did the writer decide to make for her friend?
5. What do you think of sewing?

五、阅读理解
I was walking around in a store. I saw a cashier(收银员)hand a little boy his money back, saying,“I’m sorry, but you don’t have enough money to buy this doll.”I walked towards him and asked him who the doll was for.
“It’s the doll that my sister wanted most for Christmas,”he said. I told him that maybe Santa Claus will bring it to her and that he shouldn’t worry. He sadly replied,“No,Santa Claus can’t bring it to her. I have to give the doll to my mum,so that she can give it to my sister when she joins her.”
His eyes were so sad while saying this. “My sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mum is going to see God very soon too. So I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.”
My heart nearly stopped. I quickly reached for my wallet and suggested that we count the money again. “Okay,”he said,“I hope that I have enough.”I added some of my money to his without letting him see,and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll, and even some spare money was left. “Thank you,God,for giving me enough money!”the little boy said.
