A playground in a school is special. More and more people got to know it because of a news report in 2024. The playground isn't only a place for fun, but also a place for children to learn. People build it for autistic(患自闭症的) kids.
This special school is open to autistic students from 5 to 21 years old. It helps them learn how to talk to others and do everyday things like cleaning and cooking.
Dan Hack helps design the playground. He spends lots of time understanding the needs and feelings of the students. For example, the long chairs outside it are special. People use special things to make them be in different colours. The chairs can help a child feel calm. When a child is worried, he sits on the long chair and he feels relaxed(轻松的) again.
Celia Galion's daughter Deborah is a 14-year-old girl. "She likes playing outside, so it's great for her," says Galion. After she takes her daughter to it many times, Galion thinks the playground is safe and helpful.
This special school wants to open up the special playground for more autistic kids to help them learn and grow.
