Ⅳ. 阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)
Thousands of years ago, there lived a king. He built many things. He would often invite some smart people to give him advice on his works.
As he grew old, the king thought, “I will build a perfect palace to remember all my life. It will be the best one.” In a month, the king worked out a perfect design(设计) for his palace. He invited some smart people to get their ideas about the design. “Unbelievable and perfect,” all the people said, except an old man standing in the corner. He kept quiet all the time.
The king turned to the old man and asked, “Don’t you think that my palace will be a perfect one?” The old man answered in a calm voice, “Dear king! It could be beautiful but not perfect.” “Why not perfect?” the king asked. “Because it may take thousands of workers’ life time to build it. Your palace will cost a lot of money, which must come from the people. If your people live worse because of this building, how perfect could it be?” the old man said.
The king thought for a while and thanked the old man. He decided to give up his plan and said, “The more I think of others, the greater I can be.”
1. Why did the king want to build a perfect palace? (不超过 10 个词)______
2. What did the old man think of the palace? (不超过 10 个词)______
