八、(2025·北京朝阳区期末)任务型阅读
Try more meaningful “firsts” to make more happy memories!
When I ask my grandma about her favourite memories, she talks about the events when she was 20 years old. Dr Smith’s study shows that we remember new and exciting things better. Most of our memories are about first-time experiences or special events.
At the age of six, I went to a big fun park with my parents for the first time. It was so exciting for a little girl! We went there by bus, talking and laughing all the way. At the park, I tried riding the roller coaster for the first time. My heart raced as we went up and down. It felt like a dream. Today, these special memories are still in my mind. That’s the power of “firsts”.
I remember my first art lesson in junior high. I even remember my first Maths teacher in my primary school. In fact, first-time experiences took place at the beginning of the school year, around 40% in September and 16% in October. Those first-time experiences can stay in our memories for many years.
There’s a secret to making happy memories—we can create more happy moments by trying meaningful things and having lots of “firsts”, because people remember new and exciting things better. So, let’s use this to make our lives full of memorable(值得纪念的) and meaningful moments.
1. What does Dr Smith’s study show?______
2. How did the writer and her parents go to the big fun park?______

4. 中考新考法 开放式谈看法 Do you want to try more meaningful “firsts”? Why or why not? (Please give two reasons. )______
