Hector and his friend Stuart ran to the library and read about the moon trees. The boys learned that 500 seeds(种子) went on the space task. Back on Earth, the seeds grew into common trees. People planted hundreds of moon trees all over the world. The boys told the librarian, Mrs Wu, about the moon trees.
“But I have bad news,” Mrs Wu said that most of the woods would be gone soon to make room for the new shopping centre. Stuart thought there must be something they could do to change this situation!
The boys told their friends the plan to save the moon trees. “This is a petition(请愿书) I wrote,” Hector said. “It says, ‘The moon trees are an important part of history. They are so valuable that we can't lose them. Please help our moon trees.’ We need everybody to sign this petition.” They called themselves the Moon Tree Crew.
Hector and Stuart took the petition to Mr Bowman, the builder of the shopping centre. “Boys, you've made these trees famous,” he said. “When I was your age, I saw the first lunar landing(登陆月球) on TV.”
Mr Bowman did build a shopping centre, but he saved the moon trees. Mr Bowman said,“These trees bring all of us closer to the moon.”
