Ⅶ. 任务型阅读(共 5 小题,计 10 分)
阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)。
In July, the Takashi family visited Glacier(冰川) Bay National Park in Alaska. Mariko and her elder sister Yuko were excited to camp in tents.
The first morning was wonderful. As Mariko came outside, she touched the tent, and a small pool of water fell on her head. The shoes she had left outside were wet, too! “Yuko!” Mariko shouted, waking up her sister. “It must have rained last night. My shoes are wet. ” Yuko replied, “Oh, that is not rainwater. It is just the morning dew(露珠), very small drops of water that forms during the night. ”
After breakfast, the family decided to see the glacier. Suddenly, they heard a loud noise. The tour guide said that the glacier was calving(崩解). Calving happens when a piece of glacier breaks off from the whole glacier. “What happens to the pieces?” Yuko asked. “After they calve, the pieces float until they reach the warmer water. Then they disappear,” their tour guide said. Mariko thought about the dew that made her shoes wet. She thought it’s another form of the glacier!
Mariko felt lucky to have seen something so beautiful. And she also learned that if the temperature of the world becomes higher and higher, the glacier will completely disappear.
