Yesterday was my dad’s birthday, and I wanted to give him a surprise. “How about cooking a dish for your father?” one of my friends suggested. “Good idea!” I replied. So, I decided to try cooking “Di San Xian” by myself for the first time. It is a famous dish from my home town and it’s my dad’s favourite dish.
The dish looks very simple, but it’s actually not easy to cook. I’ve practiced cooking it many times with my mom’s help. Firstly, I cut all the required vegetables into small pieces. This process really gave me a headache. And then I put the vegetables into the pot, but before I did it, I sprinkled(洒) a few drops of water into the pot carelessly. The oil in the pot started to spatter(溅) with loud noise. It was terrible. At last, when I was stir - frying(翻炒) the vegetables, I carefully picked out a piece of potato to taste. It was so hot! I almost threw it onto the ground along with my chopsticks.
The process of cooking this dish was a bit painful, but finally, the completed dish looked great. My dad was surprised by this gift and said that he enjoyed it very much. The rest of my family liked it as well. Their praise brought me a great sense of success, and we celebrated my dad’s birthday happily together.
