人与自然·生态和谐 ( 2024 吉林榆树期末,71—74,★☆☆)
When people think of tigers, they think they are strong and dangerous. But now, the big animal needs our help. There were once nine kinds of tigers in the world, but three died out during the 20th century. In the last 70 years, the number of Siberian tigers has gone from 300 to less than 22. The Siberian tiger has been in danger of dying out completely. If the government doesn’t make any efforts, it’s quite possible that there will be no more Siberian tigers in China in twenty years.
WWF ( 世界自然基金会 ) has started a program. The purpose is to save wild tigers and put an end to tiger hunting and killing. China, together with twelve other countries has joined in the program. Wild animals, such as red deer and wild pigs, are the main food of the tigers. The hunting of these animals is bad for tigers. So the most important thing is to protect the animals that tigers eat. We need to call on more people to stop eating and hunting wild animals.
