Accidents often happen in schools around the world. For this reason, the ICRC (红十字国际委员会) began its education programme in 2017. First aid training in schools around the world is one of its plans.
Kalida is a 16-year-old student who lives in Azerbaijan (阿塞拜疆). She took part in the ICRC's first aid training in 2021. One important lesson she learned was that in accidents everyone must take care of themselves first before helping others.
Since attending the training, Kalida has already helped her friend who hurt his hand with broken glass. She even taught some students and her cousins some of the skills. "The training is important," Kalida said.
Marisela teaches at a school in Venezuela (委内瑞拉). The most important thing Marisela learned from first aid training was to stay calm in order to make her safe at the moment. The training has made her a strong and confident person and an excellent first aider. She and other teachers have already treated small injuries.
Thanks to the ICRC's first aid training, many students and teachers have become professional first aiders.
