Hannah and Charlie
Hannah's school life was terrible. Because of her illness, she often passed out (昏迷) in the school. Hannah wanted an app that would allow her to press a button (按钮) so that a friend or family member would know she was not OK. She asked her brother Charlie who was good at computer for help. They couldn't find such an app in App Store so they decided to create one.
After Charlie took a programming (程序编制) class last July, he started to work for the app. He built a website and looked for a developer to help them make the app. An app developer showed interest and decided to help them. In December, the developer created the NotOK App and gave it to Hannah as a birthday present.
Now people just need to pay 1. 99 each month to use it. When you are in a tough spot, just open the app, press the "Not OK" button and then a text message will be sent to up to five pre-selected (预先选择的) people, along with a location to show where you are. The message reads, "Hey, I'm not OK. Please call me, text me, or come and find me."
Hannah and Charlie are happy that the app is helping others.
It's the Only Way I Know
The new family overslept and their six-year-old daughter missed her school bus.
The father, though late for work himself, had to drive her. Since he did not know the way, he said that she would have to show him the way to the school.
They drove several blocks (街区) before she told him to turn the first time, several more before she showed another turn. This went on for 20 minutes — but when they finally reached the school, it proved to be only a short distance from their home.
The father, much angry, asked his daughter why she'd led him around in such a circle.
The child explained, "That's the way the school bus goes, Daddy. It's the only way I know."
