Two Travelers
Two men were traveling together along the road. Suddenly, one of them stopped and picked up a well-filled wallet on the ground.
“How lucky I am!” he said. “I have found a wallet. It's heavy and it must be full of gold (金币).”
“Do not say ‘I have found a wallet,’” the other traveler said. “You should say ‘We found a wallet.’ and ‘How lucky we are!’ We should share everything lucky or unlucky on the road.”
“No, no,” the other replied angrily. “I found it and I am going to keep it!”
Just then they heard a shout of “Stop, thief (小偷)!” When they looked around, they saw a group of people armed with heavy sticks (棍子) coming down the road.
The man who had found the wallet felt very scared. “If they find the wallet on us, we are done for!” he cried.
“No, no,” the other shook his head, “you should not say ‘we’. You should go on saying ‘I’. Say ‘I am done for!’”
