Ⅴ. 任务型阅读 (主题: 人与社会·优秀艺术家)
Zhao Chuang, born in 1985, is a science artist working in Beijing. His job is to paint old extinct (灭绝的) animals according to fossils (化石).
Zhao is a good partner for many publishing houses and museums. His painting of a prehistoric flying animal became the cover of Nature in 2006. Ten years later, he worked with the American Museum of Natural History on its show about dinosaurs and birds. The artist has painted over thousands of prehistoric animals. He usually works at night. He often sleeps just four hours a day. And he usually goes to bed around 6 am and wakes up around 10 am.
“Drawing those old animals is difficult, and it makes me feel that I’m talking with 4.6 billion years of life on the earth,” he said. “I will keep studying the history of our earth. Painting a full picture of it is not easy. But I will try my best.”
Zhao began painting dinosaurs when he was a child. “Do you remember the first time you saw a dinosaur? The first time you see them, it’s really a wonder.”
When Zhao was a second-grade student at primary school, his parents bought him a popular Chinese science book for children, One Hundred Thousand Whys. This book is of great help to him.
