A Kevin is reading an article about tundras. Read the article and complete the notes.

Tundras: a closer look
Tundras are open, treeless landscapes in cold, dry areas of the planet. Tundras don’t get much rain, but strong winds often pass over the areas. Because of the cold temperatures, the growing season in tundras is very short. Most trees cannot grow there, but quite a few plants and animals find ways to survive.
There are two main types of tundra: Arctic and alpine. The Arctic tundra sits between forests to the south and the Arctic Ocean to the north. In the Arctic tundra, most of the ground stays frozen year - round. This makes it difficult for plants to grow. The alpine tundra is high up in the mountains. This type of tundra has warmer summers than the Arctic tundra, so more kinds of plants can grow there.
Both types of tundra have many interesting animals. In the Arctic tundra, you can find polar bears and Arctic foxes. The alpine tundra is home to mountain goats, sheep and lots of different birds.
With their wide - open landscapes and interesting wildlife, tundras are among the most amazing places on earth. They are also important to the earth. They help control the earth’s temperature and provide homes for special plants and animals.
