　　He Mengxue was born in the UK. She is a local(当地人) in Sunderland, a city in the north−east part of England. There, her parents run a Chinese supermarket. They are like a bridge connecting(连接) 12−year−old He Mengxue to China.
　　Each year, He Mengxue goes back to her parents' hometown in Wuhan. She spends a few months there with her grandparents. She has a taste for local food, such as hot dry noodles(热干面). She also plays outdoor sport. Drifting(漂流) in a boat is her favourite as it makes her feel excited.
　　In her eyes, China is an interesting and amazing country with a colourful culture. She likes it in many ways.
　　“My parents often tell me stories about China. What impresses(使印象深刻) me most is the story of Nian, a mythical(神话里的) monster,” He says. In the story, Nian comes out on the eve of the Spring Festival and scares(惊吓) people. But Nian is afraid of loud sounds and the red colour. So, to make Nian run away, people set off firecrackers. They also decorate their homes with red lanterns.
“Hot pot(火锅) is one of my favourite dishes. I often introduce it to my classmates in the UK. I love the steaming(热气腾腾的) bowls with meat, vegetables and noodles.
Don't worry. I don't use a knife and fork to eat my hot pot. I can use chopsticks like a pro (老手). I even prefer them. You just need one hand to use chopsticks. They're great!"He says excitedly.
